An instructional designer , While creating elearning courses, they have to consider a lot of things to make them more engaging. These include the content interactivities, animations, images, graphics, videos and the most important is learner interaction.

1.  Add course content in a Structured Manner:

As an ID, the vital thing is that you should know who are your learner are. Based on the target audience you should organise your content. You should make sure that each slide having little amount of content. The learner should not feel the content and images are too long. Dont add many graphics, charts and content in a sigle slide. If the images or graphics are self understandable do not explain in the particular slide.

Explain the topics not easy to understand in a structured manner with animation and audio. Add additional information usings links.

2. Involve subject Matter experts very frequently:

For making your training course more effective, you have to add real life scenarios. You have seek reqular support from the SME to make the content more learner centric. Adding more case studies is important to make the learner more engaged. You have to take more inputs such as real life incidents, testimonials, videos from the SME to make your content more engaging. Whatever content you add make sure it is simple and easy to understand, so that the learner will be motivated and learn what is discussed.

3. Assess regularly:

In regular classroom training, the instructor will stop in between and ask questions  to confirm the understanding of the content. In elearning course we have to assess the learners frequently to make sure the content is getting across.

Adding formative assessments not only help us to track and monitor but also help us in reinforcing the content. For all correct and incorrect answers give explanatory feedback to reinforce the learning.
